Wave Equation Migration Technologies

Over the last few years GDC has developed a full suite of  wave equation depth migration software.  The technology was developed by Yongzhong Wang and Bee Bednar and is based on the theory originally developed by Dr. Ru-Shan Wu at the University of California, Santa Cruz.  The advantages of the wave equation migration as compared to traditional Kirchhoff migration techniques are as follows:

• Multi-pathing is taken into account
• Superior handling of strong velocity contrasts
• True amplitude preservation 
• Minimal operator noise
• Very efficient solution for marine data
• Available as narrow azimuth and shot domain
• Readily extended to other data types

GDC has used the software extensively with excellent results.
